I tried downloading and installing the latest NVidia drivers to no avail I'm afraid. Any other suggestions ? Cheers, Sean.
I have just installed SUSE 9.0 on my trusty AMD K6-2/500 which has been running lots of versions of SUSE from 6.4 up and including 7.3 quite happily. The install for 9.0 goes well. However when I reboot the machine and it gets to the graphical logon screen the keyboard doesn't work. The mouse works OK though. If I boot failsafe the keyboard works perfectly in text mode. Anyone got any suggestions ?
I had the same problem on a totally diffirent setup that included a Nvidia
graphics card and concerned the nvidia driver that comes with Suse 9. When I downloaded the real Nvidia driver from Suse the problem was solved. Not supposed to work that way but it did. Hope this helps. Rich
My system is as follows:
FIC VA-503+ Mb AMD K6-2/500 CPU 512Mb RAM Creative TNT1 Video card 16Mb Promise Ultra 66 controller 1x17Gb Maxtor (onboard controller - boot) 1x8.4Gb IBM (onboard controller) 1x120Gb Seagate (promise) 1x40Gb IBM (promise) 1x60Gb Maxtor (promise) 1x30Gb IBM (promise) 1xAOpen DVD-ROM (onboard controller) 1xMicrosoft Natural Keyboard Pro (PS2 connector) 1xMicrosoft Intellimouse (COM 1)
Keyboard and mouse connected via an Adderview GEM KVM
As I said, all previous versions of SUSE Linux up to 7.3 have worked perfectly on this machine so I'm stumped by why 9.0 doesn't work properly.
