{ guess you could use rpm -e command to delete your troubled kde, and then install properly matched kde & its component parts, using APT }
An even safer way is to wait another few weeks. My installation with apt was about 95% succesful. The other 5% was such a disaster that I reverted back to 3.1.5. And I'm still not there completely!
I couldnt get Konqueror to work right, kmail was crashing frequently. Lost K3b entirely. Lost my setup for Opera.
What worked, worked smoothly and looked good, if you like the XP washed out look, except for the kasbar thing which is still with me even with a reinstall of all of KDE. Don't like that little thing at all!
Another 2cents for those collecting such things. richard
Well . . . not exactly. For the same reason you (Richard) mentioned (couldn't get my system back to its former state), I did reinstall SuSE overnight. My main reason for giving up on KDE 3.2 was that I could find kmail (kdenetwork3-mail-3.1.95.rpm). When I tried to restore my system, I couldn't find the 3.1.5 version, either. It seems like kmail or kdenetwork3-mail rpms have vanished from the face of the earth. I guess those who are using kde3.2 don't use kmail. Unfortunately for me, that is the program I use most, esp. for communicating with this list. Like you suggested Richard, I guess I'll come back in a few weeks. Thanks to all those who replied. Eddie
