Something else to beware of when using FTP. Port 21 may be open so you can request a file. However by default the FTP server will try and open a second data connection back to your machine for transferring the actual file.
All the failures I have had was on HTTP. And the FTP mirrors seem to be working just fine, so in my case at least, this cannot be the problem.
My next step Marius, would be to break out Ethereal, and see if the HTTP requests going out are getting a proper response. Compare it with the successful manual download, and see if there's something jumping out that is just plain wrong either outbound or inbound. -- Steve Boddy
