I'm running SuSE 9.1 in 64-bit mode on an AMD 64. I'm thinking of buying a LG DVD burner (model 4163b). Has anyone had good or bad experiences with this product?
I have this drive (the black version though) in my AthlonXP desktop, one of my housemates has it in his Athlon64 desktop, and one in his P-III at work. Superb drive, no issues whatsoever. Really, I've come to appreciate LG's Optical drives as being some of the best drives money can buy. I still have a LG 48x CD-RW drive used for making backups and other testing purposes. It has been doing 10-20 discs per day for almost two and a half years now. As a side note, the LG RW disc I got with an old 12x drive when they were still the newest geatest, I used for developing custom install CDs and a variety of other things. That disc has been taking some serious abuse from me since March 2000, and it's still working perfectly. No other rewriteable disc has lasted this long for me. -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy SagacIT (Pty) Ltd hansdp at sagacit dot com
