I did an update on a SUSE 10.1 of kde on Sunday to the latest in the build service. KDE no longer runs. To be more specific:
I get X.
I get KDM.
I can use any window manager other than kde or gnome. I do not usually run gnome, but it has, to the best of my knowledge, been working. Not now.
Some questions to find out what really happened: Did you upgrade anything else? Is 'the latest' the KDE 4 packages in the build service - they are for developers only? If you took KDE:KDE3 (the right choice) did you use YaST/smart to upgrade everything at once or did you download and install packages by hand? What's the output of "rpm -qa | egrep '^kde|qt3' |sort" Go to a text console and start a session with "startx -- :1 > /tmp/X.out", what's in /tmp/X.out?
