I've installed SuSE 7.1 five times on my new Dell PowerEdge 1550 server, trying to correct the same mistake. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and after I do it, the only thing I know to do is start over.
I think my system's using a different keyboard map. When I press "-" I get a capital Greek B, "/" gives me "-", ")" gives me "=", etc.
Can anyone tell me what's happening, how not to do it when I initialize the system (load the software) and any way of changing it without rebuilding the system?
This is only in X, right? I don't think you are doing anything wrong as such. I would assume Yast2 set you up with a German keyboard, like it did for me in SuSE 7.0. Weird they didn't get that fixed for 7.1. I don't know which keyboard you want, but look in /etc/X11/XF86Config for XkbLayout. The option after is what you want to change. Regards Ole
