Your right! It was installed as root. I hadn't even looked at that before. In the icon dialog, I selected "Run as a different user", entered my username, and now the icon works. Thanks for the tip!! On Friday 16 March 2001 00:58, you wrote:

I found on one of my 7.1 installs no matter who installed what app it was always set to root only and no execute permissions for anyone .. ??? ( although a sort of workaround , but clumsy, was to select "run as another user" , then It might let you run it at root, but then again, maybe not? Sepended here on the phases of the moon, or something ... I've given up asn decided to reinstall the os as I royally screwed something up anyway. BUT at least it's a place to start looking ???
