I'm writing about 15.6 based on my guesses.
If Lew's having problems with it installed, it might be a problem with the kernel....
Best Regards. I am also having a lot of audio problems with Leap 15.6, after many years trouble free audio. My Asus laptop has a "Tiger Lake-LP Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller ". The kernel module snd-sof-pci-intel-tgl that is required for sound support does not load during the 15.6 boot process. It will not load with the modprobe command. The sudio worked fine with Leap 15.4 and 15.5 on this same laptop. I followed the SDB: Audio Troubleshooting guide and also found a thread on the internet suggesting it might be a kernel regression.
So I tried the 'advanced options' in the Grub boot menu and booted the 5.14.21-150500.55.73.X86_64 kernel-default and the audio gets set up properly during boot and I have normal sound. When I boot the 6.4.0-150500.23.17.X86_64 kernel-default, then audio will not work, the audio device does not get configured during boot. Then using Yast - sound, the audio device fails to be configured because the above mentioned kernel module can not be loaded. The audio problem occurs with either a fresh 15.6 install or an upgrade from 15.5 to 15.6. I left out a lot of info but can provide more if it is helpful. Just trying to add my part to perhaps clarify this issue so it may be solved by those with much more knowledge. Gustav.
