Only for testing: i have tested a live update from 11.4 to 12.3....result? Strange, 12.3 starts with systemV, and not systemD, and naturally the network don't startup automatically. Removing from yast systemvinit, it automatically installs systemd, and network starts correctly.
Other test: updated 11.4 to 12.3 from DVD, and the update is perfect! No problems at all.
The DVD or offline upgrade method is known to work better when jumping versions. In fact jumps were supported at SuSE times. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
