Hello, I sent this in the other day, and I am sorry for resubmitting it, but, I am at my wits end. Is anyone else having problems with apsfilter and/or A2PS or is it just me??? Jim Hatridge is trying to help me but, I think we are in the same boat. I really want to use and support Linux. I have purchased SuSE 5.1, Infomagic dev. resource, RedHat 5, Caldera Open Linux base, and Linux Pro 5.4. Not to mention way too many books that all seem to cost $40.00 each. The guys at the SoftPro bookstore must love me. I even tried the Debian dist. that came on a BOOT magazine cd a while back. And of all these I like SuSE the best. If I could only get apsfilter working correctly I would be HAPPY. Until I can sort out SuSE, I guess win95, OS/2, and RedHat 5.0 are going to have to stay on my other partitions...But, damn! I need the space. I set it up with YAST. I'm using the eps9high driver on a nine pin panasonic dot matrix printer. I have also tried the epson driver and the SETUP program for apsfilter. I can print text using : lpr -Praw (my-text-file), or lpr (my-postscript-file). I can also print text using : a2ps (various command line options) (my-text-file). It seems that the a2ps options I specified in apsfilterrc and apsfilterrc.eps9high don't work. lpr command works with .ps files and with text files using -Praw command line option only, -Plp and -Pascii don't work. My etc/printcap file looks correct. Also the print button in Netscape 4.04 seems to work fine, the fonts are too small but, I'm not worried about that right now. I was under the impression that the "lpr" command would work with any file type. Isn't that the purpose of apsfilter??? I seem to be able to print anything by explicitly specifying my needs at the command line. I can print graphics from netscape. Am I using this incorrectly or is something not set up right??? I would appreciate any assistance, Steve

-- END included message
