Hello, all--and probably goodbye--
I know you have been helpful thruout all this time--
I've been with SuSE since 7.1, but I've had it.
The mail program (KMail) seems to forget its
SMPT information, it also forgot its screen
mode, now having to click twice on a message,
and then having it come up in a little quarter-
screen window. I've never been able to get any kind
of sound, much less video, even tho the built-in
noises work. Open Office will no longer open.
I don't know where I go from here--
back to XP, for a while, I guess. I have a copy of
Free-BSD, which I've never tried, but I guess I
will. (9.1 crashed in such fashion that nothing
would revive it. Before then, 8.2 gradually
deteriorated to unusability. 9.2 has _already_
degraded to unusability.) This is a fairly modern
machine, and XP runs perfectly on it. I guess I will
be watching for a few days, while you all flame me,
but enough is enough. Thank you for the help you have
offered over the years.

Ironically, I just led a guy to install SUSE 9.2 because his WinXP crashed inexplicably. He wound up having to reinstall WinXP. That's just to say your milage will definitely vary. Just don't do anything to stress out XP, like turn on your computer - that's all it took for his to crap out. Anyway, he loved the SUSE 9.2 install. He's impressed. Sorry to hear you're tired. I've had a better experience, I guess. Besides, Now that I'm finally rid of proprietary software, I could hardly turn back. Here's to your swift return to the list!
Regards,
Don
