jdd On that case you could check System Settings->(Hardware) Input Devices->Keyboard Settings Hardware Tab. There is a Check Radio button for NumLock on KDE Startup section. Most probably you would have it "Turn on", "Turn off" or "Leave unchaged" options. So switch it to desired option.
