Have you checked the intell/amd sights for a patch or bios upgrade ? At 02:25 PM 1/29/2001 GMT, Guy Van Sanden wrote:
Thanks to everyone.
I thought that, considering the specs of my motherboard, it should have worked... (maybe I'm wrong about it). But I discovered that Intel put a detection routine in the bios, that refuses to boot if a non-intel processor is installed... so goodbeye AMD...
A good warning to everyone, NEVER buy a motherboard (or alike) from Intel, they're just as bad as MickeySoft...
Thanks again
Kind regards

I'm sorry, this is somewhat off topic, but I seem unable to find relevant information about this on the Internet.
I have an Intel AN430TX motherboard with an Intel Pentium 200 MMX CPU.
The question is, can I plug an AMD K6-2 (about 400 Mhz) in it? Has anyone done this ... And most important of all, will it work with Linux?
I have SuSE 6.4, kernel 2.2.14
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Guy
