Hello ! Zentara tells me two things: 1) Put "Stupid Mode =yes" in wvdial.conf, this forces a pap login, without showing the password onscreen, 2) then change permissions on pap-secrets to read-write only by root. (This will prevent any users at your console from seeing your password, yet they can still dialout if in the dialout group. The pap-secret file isn't sent encrypted, but at least the password never is shown on the screen.) i am connect by root but i can not changes the permissions on pap-secrets: chmod 666 (with mc or kde properties). it tells me that it is only a read files and i can not change properties. how i can change this Thank you very much but i am difficulties to connect internet with Linux... but i will succeed with you i hope. thanks very much Stephane Adresse E_mail : bruchet@avignon.inra.fr - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
