Personally, I would use it if I wasn't planning on any major OS upgrades in the future. What worries me most is that with MS controlling the OS itself, what's to stop them in making it incompatible in the next MS 2000 service pack, then saying, "But we had to incorporate Outlook into the OS so you would be forced to use our exchange software to access your mail."
