Hi, the subject says it all: in every version of opensuse I tried the fonts looked much better under gnome than under kde: more more readable, with better contrast and more smooth overall.
The problem I have with gnome is that I detest it ;-)
Can anyone explain if and how I can get fonts to look as good in kde as they look in gnome, please? (I have a faint memory of somthing involving the bits per pixel that is autodetected by gnome according to the screen resolution, maybe or maybe not??).
Hi, Dopn't know if this will help you or not. Worth a try. A couple of days ago there was a message her on this list about font irregularity. The cure was by modifying/changing/re-installing freetype2 fonts which are crippled in SuSE. Something to do with a ClearType patent. Check the archives. Just a few days ago.
