Well, the first step is to examine the printer logs. /var/log/cups/.
Here's a portion of a long repetitive log list:
localhost - root [30/Jun/2019:15:42:23 -0400] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 186 Renew-Subscription successful-ok localhost - - [30/Jun/2019:16:09:33 -0400] "POST /printers/EpsonWP4530 HTTP/1.1" 200 331 Create-Job successful-ok localhost - - [30/Jun/2019:16:09:33 -0400] "POST /printers/EpsonWP4530 HTTP/1.1" 200 9579 Send-Document successful-ok localhost - - [30/Jun/2019:16:21:10 -0400] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 183 Renew-Subscription successful-ok
I don't know what it means.
Possibly "error_log". Then increase log verbosity in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf,
LogLevel debug
I could not make this work. I just get an error message when I try to get to this directory and run LogLevel debug.
do not "run" "LogLevel debug", edit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and change the "LogLevel" to indicate debug, then restart the service and try to print and look at the logs.
restart service, print again, check log again.
If I try to use XSane, a message tells me it can't find a device.
Have you configured it in YaST?
I did not. I will try. I know it sees the printer--it can tell me which ink levels are low!
