Hello everybody,
Using: Suse 11.0 , KDE3.54 ,NXfree. Suse 11.0 is derived from upgraded SuSe 10.3 no KDE4 installed.
Is there some documentation to read about the loginprocess ?
I have strange situation. A local login gives me my old standard kde3 desktop. A remote login gives me a kde4 desktop !!! How is that possible ???
(there is only 1 remote system)
Does anybody have any idea where to look ?

Had the exact same problem. Here is the answer. On you desktop the script called to start kde 3 is "/opt/kde3/bin/startkde" for the NXfree vnc, "/usr/bin/startkde" which starts the kde4 desktop (basically look and feel stuff, little tools around the icons etx.) I would make sure you get NXFree to use the /opt/kde3/bin/startkde to load the vnc session. I encountered a number of strange issues using the kde4 desktop on top of 3.5. I even went a little farther to investigate and loaded the kde4 desktop as the 'desktop' for the machine. This gives you the look you saw in vnc. However, it was not to be, there were stability issues and the kde4 desktop is missing a number of rudimentary features that render it unusable. So there is your answer -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
