Hi Gunnar, If your usb modules (usb-*hci, usbcore) are loaded, you might miss 'scanner'. What happens if you do 'modprobe scanner' as root? Does your scanner work after this? If that is what fixes your problem, then adding 'modprobe scanner' to /etc/init.d/boot.local might fix it permanently. The entry in the hotplug file (/etc/hotplug/usb.distmap) should exist permanently once the scanner is configured. Cheers ....
