Hi all,
As some on the list know already [because I asked them], that I have an Nvidia Riva TNT2 M64 card. I noticed today that the fan on the card is not working. It is also true that I am not using 3D [In Linux, the card is not configured for 3D, and in Windows, the PCI soundcard plus this TNT card hang the machine if I try to use multimedia, due to IRQ conflict that windows would not permit me to resolve :-(].
Does the fan turn on on-demand only? Or should I take a good look immediately?
IMHO you need to take a look and see why the fan is not working. Some cards do not have fans on them but I think that this is not a good idea. It seems that you are not asking the card to do anything computationally intensive so you might be OK for now. But since the card came with a fan, I would look to see why it failed. Some chips need them to keep cool. -- Marshall "Nothing is impossible, we just do not have all the anwsers to make the impossible, possible."
