I had opensuse and windows vista on the same hard drive {grub}. Lost windows, can't restart windows, though, opensusy is still there. I have one important file on windows how can I pull them off.
If windows partition is GONE there is not much you can do. If windows partition is still there, you should be able to mount it in suse and copy files across. CAREFULLY use yast to see if this is possible.
Could you elaborate on that, I am not to familiar with yast either.
In the disk partitioner in Yast you should be able to see the partition listed. Don't make any changes in there, just write down the partition name, Perhaps something like /dev/hdb3 or /dev/sda1 or some such. Then hit abort to exit partition manager without making changes. The open a shell (Konsole) and log in as root. Then mount that partition with a command like mount /dev/hd?? /mnt -t auto ro (that last bit ( ro ) mounts it Read Only so that you can copy stuff off but not mess it up. -- A computer without Microsoft is like a chocolate cake without mustard. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
