Hi Gustav, Thanks for the advice. I booted with "init 3" and tried to run SaX2 - all I get is a white screen. I found the file /var/log/SaX.log and looked to see what had been setup. I am wondering if the problem is do to a difference betweeen digital and analog modes for the TFT/LCD. It seems that the "preferred" mode is digital (300mm x 230 mm) which is different than the analog mode (305mm x 228mm). I think that the system boots in "analog" mode, which is why I can see all the text. I think that SaX2 is trying to use the digital mode. I also see that SaX2 does not like the DDC modes returned by the monitor. The log file does give me a 1400x1050 analog mode that might work if I modify XF86Config. I have to investigate this further. Hi,
I have been trying to bring up X11 on my Laptop (Compaq 1525US) with:
Graphics card: ATI Radeon 7500 (LW) Flat Panel : 1400x1050 (Hannstar HSD150PK12-A from Yast)
SaX2 cannot run, as it requires graphics (I just get a messed up
screen).
I have the same graphics card, different lcd on my compaq presario 2800 and it works with some adjustment after installation. You can run sax2 from init 3 - you do not need x to get it to run. I got my lcd to work by selecting a generic lcd with the correct resolution and not specifying the brand. If you still have problems getting it right you could select a VESA driver in sax2, get a working setup save your config file and then play with different sax2 settings until you get it right. I'm far from an expert, but I hope this helps.
