Hello, for jonathan's remark: It is possible to install from the internet via nfs. I never tried, but there is a URL in your support data base: <A HREF="http://localhost/support-db/sdb_e/ke_suselinux-ftp.html"><A HREF="http://localhost/support-db/sdb_e/ke_suselinux-ftp.html</A">http://localhost/support-db/sdb_e/ke_suselinux-ftp.html Wether this works via a WINGATE proxy... no clue. maybe you have to set some environment variables (I do this in /etc/profile) ftp_proxy=<A HREF="http://proxy.cityweb.de:8080/"><A HREF="http://proxy.cityweb.de:8080/</A">http://proxy.cityweb.de:8080/ http_proxy=<A HREF="http://proxy.cityweb.de:8080/"><A HREF="http://proxy.cityweb.de:8080/</A">http://proxy.cityweb.de:8080/ no_proxy='www.cww.de, www.cityweb.de, localhost, slartibartfast, arthurdent' ince my provider uses a proxy. Jürgen PS: Jonathan, can you tell eml somehow to issue line breaks? your lines look endless, sometimes hard to read. -- ========================================== __ _ Jürgen Braukmann e-mail: brauki@cww.de | / / (_)__ __ ____ __ Tel: 0201-743648 dk4jb@db0qs.#nrw.deu.eu | / /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ========================================== /____/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ World Leader Pretend wrote:

Dude, There may be a way to do a install off another computer with ftp, but I don't believe YaST supports that currently. I think FTP requires a specific port to recieve all of it's data, and nfs works with dynamic port assignmemnt... I think... I'm not sure if SuSE has a url for nfs install...
When you go to install (I am assuming 5.2) look to see if a pre-install kernel has something like ftp-install... I would suggest using a null modem link between the two with pppd... then seeing if you could use smb between the two machines to install...
