How do you check the cable and terminator , I usualy just run the diagnostics that caome with the card , but that will just tell you if you have a bad cable , nothing more. What is the procedure for checking the cable and terminators , Both Thin ethernet(bnc) and twisted pair. I had a real nasty intermitent problems with both a card and cable at the same time. Talk about pulling your hair. Out of frusttration opted to upgrade to hub and 100m mg twisted pair cards. Turned out real nice , exept for the 486 that wont run 100 mg. Cant win them all. I had also some problems with an NE2000 PCI NIC, after upgrading and
recompiling the kernel to 2.036 everything works just fine.
Ditto here, I have a Realtek 8029 PCI and it runs fine, under all my kernels. If you are getting strange errors, I suggest checking your cabling and terminators, especially terminators.
