What is the "right" way to clean up /tmp? I know about the setting in /etc/sysconfig eg, what is documented here: http://lizards.opensuse.org/2009/07/19/howto-regular-cleanup-the-tempfolders... But... that isn't really working, and I rarely reboot - maybe once per month at most. Is there a better way to keep this under control? Should I even be bothered with it? Why be concerned about what's in /tmp? Well, lately my computer is chewing through the 20GB / partition at a rather fast rate. I started looking around and discovered that /tmp is over 3.5GB and growing. The other rather overpopulated directories in / are /usr/lib and /usr/lib64... together those two account for 4.2GB of my install... I've started poking at what's installed, but... it's not really any different than usual. Basically, I'm running out of room on my 20GB / partition... something that has never happened before. Finding the culprit is proving to be... a challenge.
