GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/d3224276-28fa-44ad-b96e-cd3d84fd2e6e splash=silent quiet showopts" ... So in your suggestion that I make it a no resume line, how exactly do I specify that? Do I type something like "resume=noresume"?
This is a test to see if resume is associated with hanging, by telling the kernel and systemd not to attempt to resume. Edit the kernel line at the grub menu. Prepend no to resume=. Remove everything appended to resume=, and for good measure to better see what follows, remove everything else on that line. showopts does absolutely nothing anyway. splash=silent and quiet might hide possible clues to what causes hanging. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science.
