Are you running WindowMaker? I know some of the dock apps do that... wmppp? or one of the ohters I don't remember. That's pretty funny. Though I guess it's annoying as hell if it's happening to you. On Sat, 4 Jul 1998, Robb wrote:

Today, one of my computers output several of the following to the serial console: Heyho! status is now :1 Heyho! Heyho! status is now :3 status is now :2 ... about twenty more ....
or something to that effect. There were no error messages in the /var/log/messages file. There was no degradation of performance at the time, and I noticed nothing else unusual. So far, the problem has not reoccured, and everything looks normal. The terminal was connected to ttyS0 of a DEC Alpha XL300, Redhat 5.0/2.1.107. "Echo messages to COM1" was NOT enabled in .config. I was running a telnet session on it to a headless Dell P90 running SuSE 5.2/2.0.33. So, I'm not real sure which machine it came from :^)
I've got a really bad feeling about this one. Can someone shed some light on this?
