For what it is worth, I have the same problem with two of three of my upgraded machines. Used apt-get / synaptic to upgrade to 3.1.2-26 and got past the initial problem but after selecting several new packages to install, it burped and went back into the F'dUp mode. It took the skull 'n Crossbones to kill it. I havent had the courage to try again! I wonder what may break by going b ack to the 3.1.1- version. Richard
