Hello:
All this is true but my question was how konqueror/krusader finds out that what is the file's type. An example: How konqueror knows that .jpg should be opened by an image viewer and not by a text editor? When I set the associations I set the application depending on the extension. Or do I misunderstand something?
Thanks, IG

I think you mean file association. If so, start the Control Centre (Configure Desktop). Click on KDE Components -> File Associations. That will be where the association can be made. HTH
