Two days ago I installed the default 2.4.19 kernel on a 8.0 system. This is one of several Athlon sytems I have at home all running 8.0. All have behaved wonderfully when patched. Seti is running on all of them and they are running 24/7. I have had issues with the 2.4.19 8.0 system since the kernel was installed. Several are mentioned in the 8.1 threads. This morning I found the system locked up. On reboot the USB keyboard had to be unplugged and replugged to enter the password. It worked fine until the login screen. I am willing to placed my money on the 2.4.19 kernel being the culprit. Henry On Sunday 13 October 2002 02:41, Ben Rosenberg wrote:

Well, I've broken out the 8.0 CD's. Screw this. I like playing UT and having peppy responses from X. This crap is slow and generally unpleasant. With all the lockups and other stuff. This is just the last straw. Oh well. Guess I'll bite again maybe in a few months when more patches are out or wait for 8.2. :(
