Booted this morning to find I'd been update to T'Bird Version 3.
OUCH!
Most of my plugins and extensions disabled and no replacements!
But the big problem is that I have two or more copies of everything in my inbox now. An T'bird seems to be downloading everything from my IMAP server onto my laptop. That includes all the folders I have on the IMAP server as well as the inbox.
Oh look. I've just restarted after installing an add-in and now I've got THREE copies.
Oh look, now I have an "low on disk space in /home" message. It must be T'bird downloading not only my inbox but all my archives.
It wasn't set up like that before and I've checked the config. No, its not set to download all the messages. This is IMAP not POP.
Oh look, I've just used LVM to add another 512M of space and its just gone and consumed that as well. Well, I do have a LOT of mail archived on the server; the whole idea was to keep it on the server, not on my laptop.
As I'm guess I'm responsible for your update some notes :-( Have you got any notification at first startup about the changed default behaviours in TB3? Hopefully you did. At least it's meant to be displayed for upgrades. From that page you should have been able to opt out from some of the new stuff. TB3 downloads everything from every account unless you stop it from doing so. It also defaults to indexing everything. In preferences->Advanced you are able to disable the indexer. You also should be able to disable the sync of the mails in the account settings. I cannot really speak for missing addon compatibility but hope that this situation changes soon.
