Anyway, late in the install process my GUI presentation flashes to text mode presentation for a 30-60 seconds, then I got a flashing screen.
I used cntrl-alt-F2 to get a console and brought it down to init 3 just fine. Then I tried "sax2 -l" and after 30-60 seconds I again got a flashing screen.
Moving my mouse around I have the impression that the entire screen is a big mouse pointer?
Weirdly, after attempting Sax2 numerous times and getting nothing good out of it, I just rebooted the machine. My KDE login screen came right up and I'm working fine.
Truly unexpected. Never even crossed my mind to try a reboot.
The resolution looks good, but when I go to Desktop - Configure to see what resolution I ended up with I get "Your X server is using the RandR extension at version 1.2 or greater which doesn't have any configuration yet."
Are you using the nvidia binary drivers? If so, always use the nvidia-settings to change the values, not YaST or Configure Desktop. I added a 'kdesu' to the front of the menu item, as it works better if you run it as root. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Linux Brain Dump - Linux Notes, HOWTOs and Tutorials: http://www.linuxbraindump.org Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
