The original network cards that went into the IIIsi's (I'm talking pre-JetDirect), were protocol and possibly frame specific (not sure about the second part, it's been 10 years since I've touched this beast). Basically, you'd slap one of these beasties in the printer and either 802.2/802.3 ethernet or you'd buy the "other model" for LocalTalk support.
