The modem looks like it's working and connecting, but it's failing on authentication. Try running this again, but increase the verbosity of the error messages. The docs should say how to do this. I don't remember the specifics... it's been a long time since I used a modem in Linux. -- A lot of us are working harder than we want, at things we don't like to do.
