I'm going to get a new computer and am looking for the "perfect" controller. I was going to get an Adaptec Ultra2 SCSI; but, for starters, it's not supported. I have no experience with controllers outside of Adaptec and figure maybe it's time to switch. Some properties I'd like the thing to have are:
1. Fast data rate 2. Supports ultra wide SCSI hard disks 3. Easy to hook up old SCSI-2 peripherals 4. Supports > 7 devices 5. Supports OS/2 Warp 4
Of course, the last is my cross to bear. Am chiefly interested in Linux.
Would love to hear any suggestions/comments.
Thanks!
I use an Adaptec AHA2940UW with 2 Seagate Barracuda's SCSI hd's, SCSI cdrom's, and my next SCSI tape drive. No probelems whatsoever. I run Linux exclusively on my box. My brother has a Mylex/Buslogic BT-958 in his box, with several SCSI devices and runs WIN95 and Linux with no problems. I would try either one as they are both great SCSI controllers.
