Log in with gnome and repeat the update. For some strange reason, sometimes smart deletes kdebase3 after updating it. This is the why you can not login anylonger. After repeating the update process everything will be in order. 'Tried that - nada. I've gone back into Yast and am getting a lot of KDE files....updates, and will see if that works.
Fred What did you do to get Yast (I presume you mean YOU) to get it to do updates? I did all the steps Andreas spelt out to test his 'fix' but I cannot not only do any zmd but YOU doesn't work either. So, what is your secret?
No, I used Yast (You DOESN'T work yet) to get the updates. Presently, Yast is the ONLY update utility I have that works. You, Smart and Zen STILL don't work properly after the update!
Yes, of course, Yast and not YOU. I use the terms interchangeably, and therefore incorrectly. After doing a complete reinstall I now have Yast working, and will later try adding some additional installation sources and see if Zen may now work.
