I have AWE 23 Creative LABs ISA sound card. Could somebody tell me please how to fix this issue. Choosing just one mixer in KDE2.1 Control Center doesn't help at all. On http://portal.suse.com there is an article explaining how to reinstall a soundcard. At the bottom of the article there is a link to some information from the hardware database, The information found there tells us that there seem to be issues with AWE soundcards. I just spend an extraordinary amount of tim trying to make ALSA work wtih my sound card. The was to no avail. I finally broke down and bough another soundcard which works quite well, so far. I took my AWE 64 Gold and put it in another system where I don't have a need for the 2.4.2 kernel. I have a license for OSS which I used to get the card working. Unfortunately this has not integrated very nicely into the system, in as much as it does not start automatically at boot time, many of the rpms have dependencies on ALSA, and some of the KDE2.1 audio utilities fail to work correctly with the card. I now have to start the card by hand through a root login before I can use it as a regular user. They have work to do in this area. HTH Steve
