Hmmm didn't pick that one up on my search - didn't search hard enough. There is some good info there. BTW, to answer questions that were sent offlist - this machine has never has Linux on it. It has always - until today - had Windows installed. It's not mine, it belongs to my sister. She had a chance to try out SuSE7.2 on my desktop system, and within about 2 hours asked me to backup everything on the laptop, wipe Windows, and install Linux... another convert ;-) - The video card is a Chips Technologies (F65555 Rev 6) Another problem has has popped up.. the PCMCIA network card is an SMC 8034TX-56K. There is information on the SMC home pages, but haven't had any success yet. I do have to say though that the Linux support info on the SMC is about the most complete I have see for a component supplier. A nice change from the usual "Linux??? isn't that some form of cancer?" attitude. Thanks for the suggestions so far... I am making slow progress. Ciao C.
