Hello, I have MythTV 0.19 running OpenSuSE 10.1, which is sitting on an AMD Athlon XP 1800 and an old Biostar motherboard with the VIA chipset and a HopHog PVR 500MCE. I have been bitten by the via chipset problem of have the system reboot spontaneously for sometime. I have under clocked this machine to the bare minimum and still random reboots ranging from 5 to 30 minutes of live tv, and forget live tv and record from the second tuner.
So, I am going to buy a new mother board and I have a couple of models in mind, I was hoping that someone could give me some thoughts on them. Since the other two boards were 754 socket boards, I would eliminate them right away. You're restricted to the lower end 64 chips for those with no hope of updating, besides buying another motherboard. With that said, the MSI motherboards have always been top performers and the ATI chipset has gotten very good reviews. I must say, I'm anxious to see how well it sets up myself for this chipset has been a consideration for me. You also have the capabilities of using the X2 dual core AMD in it. Even if you decide now to go with a cheaper 64 bit 939 pin cpu, you will be able to update later to a dual core with that being your only expense. Good luck with your choice and keep us/me posted if you get the ATI chipset model. ;-) regards, Lee -- -- KMail v1.9.4 -- KDE v3.5 -- SuSE Linux v10.1 -- Registered Linux User #225206 "Gör, eller gör inte.
