Hi, I need to install SuSE 10.1 onto a machine that has some "issues" :-) It has a single Windows NTFS partition (/dev/sda2, which I want to keep) and a load of free space I've made available for my Linux installation. The problem I keep encountering is that because there are some duff sectors on the Windows partition the SuSE installation keeps hanging. Pressing ALT+F4 reveals a terminal in which there is a list rolling over and over telling me that there are duff sectors on /dev/sda2 I.e. it's checking the whole of the disk..... How can I tell the SuSE installation to ignore /dev/sda2 when it comes to doing the installation? Obviously my long term goal is to retire this disk and replace it with something less crap, but in the meantime I need to get Linux up and running on this machine ASAP. Hope someone's got an idea on this, my searching has drawn a blank.
