I've just now upgraded to 3.43, but I donno what you mean by "not shown up on the desktop". I never had my CD or DVD or USB pen drive on my desktop.
I have no problem with the automounting of my USB drive as well as any DVDs I put into my DVD drive.

If you right click on the desktop Configure Desktop-->Behavior-->Device Icons tab You can turn off/on which devices you want to see on your desktop. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998
