In X I might be able to configure out DPMS. But text mode? I've never heard how to configure that in text mode. :-?
try booting with i915.powersave=0
i915? But video is i845, will that work?
I expect so. I wouldn't be surprised if most workarounds for i915 troubles are necessitated at least in part by the derelict 845G. If it doesn't, try what I do by default (nice to know whether it works or not): In ~/.bashrc setterm -blank 59 -store Somewhere in /etc/xorg.co* I also do: Option "DPS" "off" Then again, I'm not a laptop user, except for one infrequently used antique with r128. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
