Dylan, thanks.
Both packages **are already** installed. But Audacity still won't run.
Which versions of audacity and wxGTK are installed? Where did each come from? I run the audacity from the 9.3 media with no trouble.
Dylan
There is no Audacity on my 9.3 DVD. I know that sounds incredible, and my wife insists she loaded Audacity from the DVD, but it's not there. (Or it's WELL hidden.)
Well, I can't speak for the actual DVD, but it's in the ftp sources as version 1.2.3-6.1 (same version, different build) so you might try uninstalling the one you have and getting the package from an ftp mirror. You could also mount the DVD and look for it manually under <mountpoint>/suse/i586. I find it hard to believe it's on the ftp and not the dvd.
I got Audacity from an rpm <audacity-1.2.3-1.pm.3.i586> that my wife found and sent to me. The wxGTK and wxGTK-compat packages that you reference in your previous e-mail came from the 9.3 DVD.
Note also this interesting issue: I cannot search for anything on the 9.3 DVD using the Yast search function in "Install and Remove Software." When I select "search" and then try to enter what I want to locate, nothing shows up. The cursor is in the box, but no letters can be entered. I am locked-out of the search function.
Is this in KDE, running yast itself, or through the KDE Control Centre? I've seen that "behaviour" and as a result always use yast in a terminal or on a console.
The way I have to find things is to select "Package groups" and then "zzz All." That was how I found the two wxGTK packages. But even using this method there is no Audacity to be found.
You were looking with a lower-case "a" weren't you (not being sarky, just a silly mistake I've made in the past!) Dylan
Strange, isn't it?? Gil
