Dear my friends....
I want to use a printer which attached to a windows xp station. I print from suse linux 8.2 station. the printer runs properly if I print from the windows xp.
I've tryed this threat which I found in the archived of our beloved mailing-list (suse-linux-e).
what I've done as follows... 1. I installed unix print services on the windows xp station. 2. activate and setup to be started automatically the tcp/ip print server. 3. using yast2 on the suse linux 8.2 station, I did...(as root): 3.1. open hardware menu-->printer-->configure. 3.2. chosed : show more connection types. 3.3. chosed : other printer (set uri). 3.4. typed for connection uri : " smb://patrix:lebaran@wg.siemens.de/patrix_xp/epson810 " 3.5. chosed non-yast2 ppd file 3.6. browse-->chosed epson folder 3.7. chosed : Stylus_Photo_810-gimp-print-ijs.ppd.gz 3.8. next-->ok-->finished
But it still doesn't work. I tried printing from the suse linux 8.2 station with open office. but again, the printer of the windows xp station still doesn't perform printing.
Please teach me... I am getting frustrated now...
I prefer to install a raw queue in the linux (with yast) After, with samba, share the printer, and fro mthe windows, you will see the printer, install the drivers in the windows (is a raw printer) and ready!!!!! -- ------------------------------------------------------ Una prensa libre es el gran enemigo de los dictadores.
