Every-time I install the OEM driver and reboot, my sound goes away. Nothing on YouTube or on playing DVDs. I've searched for alsa help and have hit a brick wall.
Curious! Have you tried rebooting before installing that driver?
BTW, uninstalling the driver does not help. Once it's been installed, the only way I've been able to get sound back is to reinstall, and I've probably done that 10 times in the past couple days.
You could try running an rpm verify all to see what files have changed. Maybe a kernel module, a permission somewhere :-? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
