Yes, I've used both LPRNG and CUPS... I think CUPS is a little easier, because you can setup the printer as a JetDirect printer specifically and the driver for CUPS seem to be more up to date. What are you actually trying to print? - Heman SuSE Mailing List wrote:
I am trying to connect to an HP 8100 network printer. I have tried using lpnrg and now cups. I can get neither to work. Within Yast I have defined the printer with every possible setting and have yet to get anything to print. I send the print job, it gives me the job ID and nothing from that point. lpstat lists the printer as accepting jobs, lpq lists nothing in the queue. But, the print jobs never makes it to the printer.
The printer is defined in /etc/hosts as follows:
10.250.200.31 2nd-it3-8100
I can ping 2nd-it3-8100 I can telnet 2nd-it3-8100 9100
What else could be wrong?
Any help is gresatly appreciated.
Also, does HP's jetdirect software still exist and if so will it work on SuSE 8.0?
Thanks, Chuck
