Hello, I just noted that avahi-daemon is taking 50% of my cpu.
Is it harmless to remove this? I have no direct use of zeronconf as each time it got in the way it was to do stupid things (like setting unexistent interface)
but I don't know the dependencies
Hi jdd
I have stopped it and removed it from the init-sequence on the last 2-3 systems I've installed. I think I also saw it using up a lot of CPU.
Guys, I don't know what I'm doing right, but I've never seen avahi before and I visit top quite often to check on processes and I make a conscious effort to look for any that are making use of the CPU. I've never notice avahi doing anything weird, but sure enough, it is running on my boxes: 22:29 nirvana:~/linux/mysql> ps -elf | grep avahi 5 S avahi 3735 1 0 75 0 - 6872 - Jan08 ? 00:00:00 avahi-daemon: running [nirvana.local] 1 S root 3745 1 0 83 0 - 2513 - Jan08 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/avahi-dnsconfd -D 0 R david 26670 30994 0 78 0 - 1280 - 22:53 pts/0 00:00:00 grep avahi -- David C.
