What don't you want on VT7? That's where XDM/GDM/KDM goes unless configured to goto VT1. On all my 12.3 systems, boot messages are on VT1,
On this machine the boot messages went to VT7 one day, and KDM to VT8 later. Then I used the console=tty1 option again. It may be plymouth which goes there. Is not it a graphical presentation?
