I know this was discussed a while back, with no resolution. Has anyone found out how to get kscd working again in 9.3? It worked with 9.2 and kde 3.4 with digital extraction. I even tried rebuilding the src.rpm but no go. It seems it is not allowed to reach a backend.
The problem used to be that you had to specify an AudioSystem in the kscdrc config file, something like
AudioSystem=arts
but I don't know if it still works
It's listed as a TODO item, so I guess it's still work in progress, which I guess is why you have to do this manually Before I opened kscd, that was in my kscdrc from 9.2 (I didn't format /home). Now, even if you fill it in, it erases it. It is definitely something in 9.3, and since the same source worked in 9.2, it may be something other than kscd that is causing this not to work. On this same machine, which had 9.2 before upgraded to KDE 3.4, kscd worked fine. I had added a patch for KAudioCreator and rebuilt the 3.4.0-19 kdemultimedia package, and it worked fine. I just rebuilt the exact same package with 9.3 today, and the same source for kscd that produced a working kscd in 9.2 will not work in 9.3 (i.e digital playback doesn't work). From that, I would deduce something that is different besides
