PGP/GPG - Getting started

Can anyone point me to some documentation about how to get started using PGP/GPG on a SuSE 7.1 system? The man page for gpg has some information, but I was looking for something that I could read that had a more system-level approach. On another subject, does anyone know if the PGP packages are available as Java libraries from someplace? Thanks, -ronc
